Review from fan of P.Ramlee The Musical

One word. Amazing!

I was lucky this time around for getting tickets, I missed out the first time. I have to say it was absolutely brilliant. From the first scene to the last. The music score, the stage, everything was spot on.

Musly as P.Ramlee was phenomenal, when he sings you could just here P.ramlee's voice. He was incredible as P.ramlee. Most of the time I was amazed by the set, I guess I've never watched such a big scale musical show where all the props and stage were moving up and down. I have to give props to the orchestra, they were brilliant! The new songs were great as well, very catchy and I'm still singing some of the songs in my head. haha.

The story is about P.ramlee's life, about his movies, music and his wives. I think all the actresses were absolutely gorgeous and amazing. Emilda who played P.ramlee's first love was so pretty, I only knew her from menjalara, hee. Atilia was one of my favorites, she was so adorable and so small but her voice was AMAZING. I can't believe that the big voice was coming from such a small person. When she decided to leave p.ramlee it was very sad. Melissa Saila played P.ramlee's second wife Nurizan. She was awesome, very bitchy. Her singing was okay I guess coz she's not really a singer. But the star of the night was definitely Liza Hanim as Saloma. Her voice was absolutely brilliant!!! The other cast members were also brilliant!!!I love the dancing, and the songs.

The story begins with P.Ramlee back in Penang before he was famous and he wrote one of his popular songs "Azizah" for a girl that he loved very much. He was big in his kampung and was the talk of the town. P.Ramlee was offered to work in Singapore, so to pursue his dreams he went and left penang. There he met his first wife, Junaidah and they got married. But when P.Ramlee's star was rising, Junaidah could not handle his husband's fame and decided to leave him. A broken hearted P.Ramlee then met with his future second wife, Nurizan and he also got the chance to direct his first movie, Penarik Beca. A story about forbidden love due to the different family background. The movie was an instant hit and he became very busy which put a strain on his relationship with his wife and they also separated. P.Ramlee then met Saloma which became his last wife till the day he passed away. The story ended when Singapore was seperated from Malaya and P.Ramlee had to move to Kuala Lumpur. He and Saloma reminisce their life and he sang Air Mata di Kuala Lumpur which was so meaningful as it reflected his life which at that point, he was not sure whether he would be remembered or not.

The story was a mixture of beautiful songs, tears, anger, happiness, love and also about a man who became a legend. A man that is irreplaceable.

There's nothing to hate about this show. I hope it will come back! I don't mind watching it for the second time. I also hope that people from around the world can watch the brilliant P.Ramlee on stage and appreciate his music and movies.
